The First Garden Breakfast

With lockdown rules easing rapidly as the warmer days of the summer took hold, the first chance to re-establish a larger group was planned. Residing in Greenway Close, Wincanton, were 2 of our original group who had managed some walks and breakfasts in the pre COVID days together. However during the early days of lockdown another resident (whose son was a pupil at Sexey’s) was taken ill with some heart issues and was slowly getting used to some rehabilitation. Unfortunately the Cardiac rehab unit in YDH was not open and so when I suggested joining us, he jumped at the chance. (Although he didn't jump very high because of his cardiac condition).

The route for the 6 who joined in today was a gentle stroll down Snag Lane, onto the ridge behind Snag Farm, returning via Stoke Trister and Bayford. A short introduction, a chance to catch up on all lockdown issues and stretch the legs. Bill & Sully soon reacquainted themselves and Sully had no problems letting Bill into his garden later. A large patch of caterpillars provided the main point of discussion. Did we ever find out what they were?

On arriving back, and suitably seated in the garden with ample space, this was our first attempt at a home cooked breakfast option. The menu was pretty simple: Tea, Coffee, Bacon Rolls! Thanks to head chef Denise for rising to the occasion.

Post edit note - it appears they could be the caterpillars of the Peacock butterfly
