Scrumpy

Updated: Jan 3, 2022

Border Terrier

Scrumpy was born in Yarlington in March 2020 just as lockdown began and joined the Waller family in May. As a Somerset native she loves exploring the landscape around her home – the open countryside , wooded valleys , streams and especially orchards of South Somerset. Her border heritage means she can run for miles in all weather conditions, cheerfully splashing around in mud and springing around in hedgerows or long grasses to keep an eye on where the pack is. She has a super temperament for meeting other people and especially dogs as we pass them – lots of tail wagging and enthusiasm and never any aggression or challenge to dogs or humans.

Her great friend Sully has been extremely tolerant of the young upstart leaping around him excitedly and rushing back and forth on the walks. They easily outpace the "Walking Dead" and explore round us in an arc – mostly returning to us when some serious obstacle appears. Where they disagree is plunging into water – Sully jumps in whenever a pond, lake or water trough appears. Scrumpy is happier watching from the side and paddling in the shallows is as far as she goes.

Scrumpy is happy in Bill’s company too but I suspect Bill doubts the wisdom of charging everywhere getting overexcited about twigs and flowers – it doesn’t seem to get you a larger share of the bacon rolls.
