Congresbury Christmas walk rained off!

Due to a very rainy forecast on Friday at 16.00 for Saturdaythe walk that was plan by Adrian and Ruth around Congresbury the walk was cancelled. (The route through the fields was already extremely muddy from the rain over the last few weeks). We had planned to start from the house, to the weir, past the fish and chip shop, winding around, meeting the Strawberry line and making our way back in a zig zag route back to the house.  

It was rearranged to go to Cadbury Garden Centre, Congresbury, to meet at 10.30 and end at 12.30.

Dave, Denise, John, Anne, Phil, Claire, John, Jane, Deryck, Maureen, Richard and Sarah were there. We started with a good chat, laughed and had coffee, etc and some taking theMichael.  The weather turned out to be glorious, despite what the weather men/woman predicted and me.  

We only left 30 minutes to see all that Cadbury Garden Centre had to offer, (after coffee), not long enough for the ladies!

We arrived at the Stag & Hounds pub in Churchill for our Christmas Lunch.

We pulled our crackers, Had our starters, mains and desserts. Yum yum. Talked and joked.

The Stag and Hounds pub was during World War 2, The Hotel and Farm Guest House. The proprietors were Mr and Mrs L Phillips, Ruth’s Grandparents. Richard, Ruth’s father had memories of sharing a bed with his 3 brothers (2 up, 2 down) and the bedroom was above where we had our meal.

Hopefully we will do the planned walk in the Spring, in the better weather and the enjoy sitting in the garden of the Congresbury arms with a good drink!
